Get to Know Your AASV District Director – Blaine Tully

Finishing his second term this April, Dr. Blaine Tully is the AASV District 11 Director, representing Canada.

Dr. Tully received his Diploma in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba in 1993 followed by his DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in 2001. He is currently a veterinarian and owner at Swine Health Professionals. Based in Steinbach, Manitoba, Swine Health Professionals provides health and production consulting for farms throughout Manitoba.

Since joining AASV in 2001, Dr. Tully has served as a member of the Welfare Committee, a member and chair of the Student Recruitment Committee, and a member of the Program Planning Committee. He considers it a privilege to represent his district and country to AASV and represent AASV back to District 11.

Dr. Tully is excited to see the AASV support early career veterinarians through the newly established Early Career Committee. "As a member that is not within 10 years of graduating vet school, I think the Early Career initiatives being undertaken by the board and association are fantastic and I'm glad many of our younger members will benefit!"

Dr. Tully encourages members to get involved to maximize opportunities AASV can offer. "The fantastic people within the organization will help you grow as a swine veterinarian. The learning and networking opportunities are huge and right there to take advantage of, so get involved!"

When Dr. Tully isn't chauffeuring kids to various sporting events and extra-curricular activities, he enjoys cross-country skiing and cycling with his family.
