Director Nominations Sought in 4 AASV Districts

Nominations for the office of AASV District Director are currently being sought in four AASV districts. This year, nominations are being conducted online. A link to the nomination form has been emailed to each eligible voter in Districts #2 (southeastern United States), #5 (Illinois and Wisconsin), #9 (Minnesota and North Dakota), and District #11 (Canada). Members may also access their (unique) link to the nomination form by logging into their AASV member account at aasv.org/members.

Potential candidates must be Active (veterinarian) AASV members residing in the district to be represented (Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote). In each district, the two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve. In order to be counted, nominations must be submitted by Friday, January 24.

In all four districts, the current director has served two terms in office and is NOT eligible to serve another term.

The newly elected district directors will begin a three-year term of office upon the conclusion of the 2020 spring Board of Directors meeting, to be held in Iowa on April 1.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV; see aasv.org/aasv/contacts.html for the current board roster and district apportionment. The Board of Directors meets twice annually (typically in March/April and September/October in Des Moines or Perry, Iowa) to set policies and conduct association business. Minutes of past board meetings are available for review at aasv.org/aasv/board.htm. Occasionally, the board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions. For more information, contact the AASV office (515-465-5255 or aasv@aasv.org).
