AASV Moves to Electronic Nominations, Balloting

In a departure from the procedure used for the past 50 years, the AASV will NOT be mailing paper nomination cards or ballots to voters for the upcoming district director and officer elections. Instead, the process will be conducted electronically. The change was enabled by amendments to the AASV Bylaws made by the Board of Directors last spring. Here's how it will work:

When the nomination or voting period begins (shortly after January 1), it will be announced in the AASV e-Letter, and eligible voters will receive an email message from AASV that contains a link to the applicable nomination card or ballot, hosted on SurveyGizmo. Members may also log into their AASV member account (aasv.org/members) to access the link to the nomination card/ballot. Regardless of the method of access, the link provided is specific to each member and allows only one nomination or vote to be entered by that member. If a member qualifies to vote in more than one election (for example, a District Director election as well as the election for Vice President), they will receive a separate message and link for each election (and both links will appear in their AASV member account). Once a member has submitted a nomination or vote, the link will allow the member to change their entry until the closing date, but it will not allow multiple nominations or votes.

With that in mind, now is a good time to: 1) make sure the email address AASV has on file for you is correct and/or 2) keep your AASV login information handy (use the "Reset Password" link in the upper right of the AASV website to have your username and password emailed to you).

The move to electronic voting was made in part to allow for increased voting participation by members in Canada and Mexico. It will also reduce postage and paper costs for the association.
