Position Announcement: Swine Production Veterinarian

Prestage Farms, Inc. is seeking a progressive DVM to join the management team of the live pork production division based in Clinton, North Carolina. Prestage Farms is family-owned and eastern North Carolina-based. Additionally, Prestage Farms is an industry leader in turkey production in North and South Carolina with a turkey processing plant in North Carolina. With swine production divisions in North and South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, and Iowa, and the recent addition of a pork processing plant in Iowa, Prestage farms is the sixth largest pork production company in the USA. This veterinarian will work with another experienced staff veterinarian, consultant veterinarians, seasoned production managers, senior management, and owners to manage and minimize the impact of disease on pork production cost, promote animal welfare, and ensure farm side food safety for the 185,000 sows and their offspring from birth to market.

Candidate is required to maintain PQA Plus advisor status, USDA accreditation, veterinary licensure in states of practice, and be a subject matter expert in the fields of animal welfare, animal science, production medicine, and swine diagnostics. The candidate must be self-motivated, hard-working, and a passionate team member focused on producing pork in a cost-competitive environment.

This position is based in Clinton, North Carolina, with travel up to one week per month to other production facilities as needed. Previous experience in swine production medicine is preferred.
