AVMA Volunteer Opportunity: Director of International Affairs

Nominations are now being accepted for the AVMA Director of International Affairs position, which also serves as the chair of the Committee on International Veterinary Affairs. The position carries a three-year term, beginning at the close of the HOD Regular Annual Session in August 2019. According to the position description, the Director is charged to:

  1. Provide enhanced continuity to the AVMA's international strategy.
  2. Foster development and implementation of AVMA international strategies by chairing the Committee on International Veterinary Affairs and working closely with the AVMA Director of Global Outreach and other relevant AVMA entities, staff, and volunteer leadership.
  3. In accordance with AVMA policy, in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer, and in keeping within the approved budget for this position, serve as an AVMA representative to the North American Veterinary Leadership Meetings (NAVLM), and other meetings as appropriate.
  4. Monitor international activities and make recommendations for action to the appropriate AVMA entities.
  5. Recommend new relationships with other organizations whose interests are related to the objectives and Strategic Plan of the AVMA.
  6. Accept additional charges as assigned by the AVMA Board of Directors or Chief Executive Officer.
