Webinar April 24: PCV2 - Where Are We at Today?

National Hog Farmer is pleased to announce the launch of "Science Talks," a new webinar series sponsored by Merck Animal Health. The first episode of this new series will air April 24 at 3 p.m. Central and will have three swine veterinarians and diagnosticians giving their perspectives on "PCV2 - Where are we at today?" Presenters will include Dick Hesse, professor and director of Diagnostic Virology, Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine; Phil Gauger, associate professor and diagnostic pathologist, Iowa State University Diagnostic Lab, and Darin Madson, associate professor and diagnostic pathologist, Iowa State University Diagnostic Lab. National Hog Farmer's Kevin Schulz will serve as moderator.

Topics will include porcine circovirus type 2 history, evolution and ecology of the virus, clinical signs and diagnostics, thoughts regarding vaccination, unstable herds and more. The second part of the Science Talks webinar series will held May 9 at 1 p.m. Central and will look at "PCV3 - An Emerging Disease?" It will look specifically at what role porcine circovirus type 3 is playing in the disease complex on farms. During this webinar, Bailey Arruda, a pathologist from Iowa State Diagnostic Lab, will give her diagnostic perspective on PCV3. She will discuss what we are seeing in the field as well as the potential impact to producers, veterinarians and industry.

Both of these 60-minute webinars are free and will be followed by live question and answer sessions. For those not able to attend the webinars, links to the archived versions will be shared with all that register.
