Next Swine EVP Class Enrolling Now at Illinois

The Executive Veterinary Program: Swine Health Management has opened enrollment to veterinarians seeking to gain advanced skills needed by industry leaders. The class will meet in Urbana, Ill., ten times between August 1, 2019, and February 5, 2021. [Source: I College of Veterinary Medicine]

This will be the seventh offering of EVP by the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine since it debuted in 1991. Over the past 28 years, the EVP credential has become synonymous with impact and influence in swine medicine.

EVP: Swine graduates have come from 16 states and three countries; they include 19 of the 48 past presidents of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV), 15 of the 42 AASV Practitioner of the Year award winners, and 15 of the 12 AASV Young Vet of the Year award winners.

The EVP experience begins with a group of progressive practitioners who learn from top-tier speakers on topics that are not covered in vet school, such as leadership, systems management, and data analysis skills. Over the span of 18 months, participants develop improved critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The program is coordinated by Dr. Larry Firkins and Dr. Jim Lowe, faculty members at the College of Veterinary Medicine as well as EVP graduates themselves. Both are internationally recognized consultants and speakers on swine health and management practices.
