Mail Director Nominations to Arrive in AASV by January 25

Nominations for the office of AASV District Director are currently being sought in three AASV districts. Nomination cards have been mailed to all eligible voters in Districts #3 (Arkansas, Kentucky, and Missouri), #7 (western US), and #8 (Nebraska and South Dakota). Potential candidates must be Active (veterinarian) AASV members residing in the district to be represented (Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote). In each district, the two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve. In order to be counted, the signed nomination card must be returned by mail to arrive in the AASV office by Friday, January 25. Email nominations are not accepted.

In all three districts, the current director has served one term in office and is eligible to serve a second term.

The newly elected district directors will begin a three-year term of office upon the conclusion of the 2019 spring Board of Directors meeting, to be held in Perry, Iowa on April 10.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV; see www.aasv.org/aasv/contacts.html for the current board roster and district apportionment. The Board of Directors meets twice annually (typically in March/April and September/October in Perry, Iowa) to set policies and conduct association business. Minutes of past board meetings are available for review at www.aasv.org/aasv/board.htm. Occasionally, the board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions. For more information, contact the AASV office (515-465-5255 or aasv@aasv.org).
