Position Announcement: Global Technical Director, Swine

The Global Technical Director Swine is part of the Global Swine Business Unit. This unit sets the strategic direction for the Swine Business Worldwide and must also ensure alignment with this strategy with all functions within the organization. This position, Global Technical Director, Swine, will be field-based and report to the Global Swine species leader.

The main objective of this position is to give specialized, high level global veterinary technical support to local companies' technical and marketing staff of the relevant product groups and services in all stages of the life cycle to achieve the annual and strategic goals. The Global Technical Director will work closely with marketing director(s) on development of technical materials for the product marketing campaigns. In addition, individual will provide global technical direction for R&D into developing products that satisfy customer needs in the relevant markets. The nature of this role requires flexibility to be able to travel globally as and when required in order to properly fulfill the principal tasks and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

In this role, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Define, establish and update the technical platforms for new and existing products and services to ensure the best quality technical information is available both at global and local company level for strategic and operational needs.
  • Actively participate in the formulation of the company long term global product development strategy, by continuously searching for new product opportunities and provide expert veterinary technical assessment of all new product proposals to R&D, Business Development and Regulatory Affairs departments.
  • Generate written technical information for publication or verbal presentation at meetings at various levels.
  • Provide global expert technical representation at relevant meetings, congresses and exhibitions in order to promote the technical and veterinary interests of the company and to enhance technical profile and good scientific standing.
  • Responsible for initiating, managing and maintaining a good technical relationship with key opinion leaders and academics.
  • Ensure that all global promotional and PR material is technically accurate and ethical, and correctly reflects the authorized SPC/product label. Also, manage similar technical communication, to ensure it is fully in line with our technical platform and product positioning.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor products and relevant technical activities; to ensure this information is effectively communicated to global colleagues and local companies to optimum benefit.
  • Provide a high quality global customer product/technical support service, either directly or by providing assistance to local operations to optimum benefit.
  • Assist and guide local companies undertaking any local market product support trials to ensure that any such trials are properly designed and comply with our global technical and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the Animal Health Industry and/or Swine production or academia.
  • Full proficiency in spoken and written English (proficiency in second major language is preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including intercultural, interpersonal and general communication with a natural ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Availability to travel (approx. 75% travel, both domestic and international).

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • A PhD
  • Prior experience in private veterinary practice or a university clinic is desirable.
  • Previous technical advisory experience in an animal health company or other relevant industry is desirable.
  • Understanding of the biologicals industry.
  • Global exposure/experience.

This is a remote, home-based role. Home must be close to a major airport.
