Wisconsin Adopts New Swine Rules

Effective February 1, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will enact new rules requiring swine entering or moving within Wisconsin to originate from a herd that has been tested for PRRS and SECD within 90 days. If they are negative, the test results would need to be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. If the results are positive, the producer would need to obtain an import permit from the department. The swine would be quarantined after arrival until a herd plan is written by the herd veterinarian and approved by the department.
