This Saturday is Veterans Day. I am reminded of a couple of quotes I've heard over the years regarding our military. The first is attributed to an unnamed German General during a post-war debriefing. He reportedly complimented the U.S. Army by noting, "The reason the American Army does so well in wartime, is that war is chaos, and the American Army practices it on a daily basis." Second, and more pertinent to the significance of this weekend's remembrance, is a quote attributed to Maya Angelou, renowned writer and poet. When asked to give her thoughts about the significance of Veterans Day, she remarked, "How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!" Thanks to all our AASV members who serve, or have served, in the military.
