New Swine Coronavirus Detection Kit for Environmental Samples

The Applied Biosystems VetMAX PEDV/TGEV/SDCoV Kit is a single-well multiplex real-time RT-PCR kit for the detection and differentiation of the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), and swine delta corona virus (SDCoV) in environmental samples. All components for running the PCR are included in the kit. The sample preparation workflow has been tested with Applied Biosystems MagMAX sample extraction chemistry and Thermo Fisher KingFisher instruments. The kit has been validated for several environmental sample types, eliminating the need for separate kits for each type. And this real-time PCR kit can be used with different thermocyclers, with the same results and reliability.

Environmental samples include:

• Feed samples
• Fecal samples collected from floors or walls in the pen or barn
• Swiffer pads
• Any sample not directly collected from individual pigs
